Group BIGBANG is going to Hong Kong.
On the 18th, CJ E&M announced that “BIGBANG is
planning a spectacular performance for 2015 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music
Awards).”
BIGBANG’s attendance at MAMA has been a hot issue. Last
month, a report came out thatYG Entertainment artists’ attendances were
unclear, and this was because, at the time,Mnet stated that “We are still
in the stage of planning. We will try our best to work with the most successful
artists of this year to create an amazing event,” announcing that nothing had
been decided for BIGBANG.
And after CNBLUE, BTS, GOT7, and Zion.T were
announced in the 1st line-up announcement, the absence of BIGBANG in the
line-up heightened worries. This year was often referred to as the year of
BIGBANG, and thus concerns grew around the issue. But as BIGBANG’s attendance
was confirmed, MAMA was able to formulate a more substantial line-up.
This year, from May to October, BIGBANG has had immense
success and popularity as they released albums ‘M’, ‘A’, ‘D’, ‘E’ each month.
They achieved all-kills with new tracks ‘BANGBANG BANG’, ‘LOSER’, ‘IF YOU’,
and ‘SOBER’. BIGBANG’s power was confirmed through the 2015 MelOn Music
Awards (MMA) that took place on the 7th this month. They stood as the
spotlight of this year’s music industry by receiving four awards such as Best
Song of the Year for ‘BANG BANG BANG’ and Best Artist of the Year.
Additionally, as they finished up their world tour, their
status in the music industry substantially grew. New York Times praised
BIGBANG saying “BIGBANG’s concert proved that America’s absolute influence on
pop industry is diminishing.”
BIGBANG is set to end their successful year with their MAMA
performance. In the numerous times they attended, BIGBANG has good memories
from the ceremony. In 2012, they received the Best Artist of the Year Award,
and the following year, G-Dragon received the Best Music Video Award, Best Male
Artist, Best Dance Performance Male Solo, and the Best Artist of the
Year, one of the three biggest awards. Last year, Taeyang received
the Song of the Year Award with ‘Eyes Nose Lips’, along with Best
Male Vocal Performance and Best Male Artist, in total three awards.
With every new release a hit song, there is much expectation that
BIGBANG will be the star of the event.
The 7th Annual MAMA will take place on December 2nd at AWE (Asia
World-Expo Arena) in Hong Kong.
